Dear Friends & Visitors
One Million Blessings in One Hundred Days Blessings Experiment
The May You Be Blessed presentation was created in December 2005 by Texas grandmother, Kate Nowak, who sent it out to a few personal friends on her address list. She had received over a thousand email messages within a week from people all over the world who had seen the movie and wanted to thank her for creating it.
From that response, the idea for the - One Million Blessings in One Hundred Days Blessings Experiment -was born and by the 100th and final day — May 15th, 2006 — over 1.6 million people all over the world had viewed May You Be Blessed.
"Now that our goal has been reached," Kate announced to participants of the experiment on that landmark day, "naturally the next question is where should we go from here? The answer, I think, is divinely simple: We should move forward. The 100th day does not have to be the end of the experiment. It can just as easily signify a new beginning."
Realizing that with six billion people on the planet the work was really just beginning, Kate began laying the groundwork for what she tentatively called "Phase Two." "I looked back over all the letters I'd received," she said, "...all those people telling me how their lives had been touched by a simple four-minute movie and I knew I had to keep it going."
May You Be Blessed - has been seen by over two and a half million viewers — people of every culture, every faith and every imaginable walk of life. It is Kate's vision that between now and October 18, 2008 when the project's thousandth day will be reached, a billion or more people will have been blessed and will, in turn, be reaching out to touch others. She also envisions that day as the first annual - International Day of Blessing,- with individuals, groups, organizations and even governing bodies all coming together with the common goal of blessing the world.
Most certainly a grass root effort, Kate understands it will take many hands, hearts and minds to pull such a wide-spread project together and will be seeking volunteers over the next few months as the project groundwork is laid. Translators will be needed to make the movie and information about the project available in other languages; facilitators will be needed to create localized - Circle of Blessing - groups in their own communities; and many other tasks will need to be handed over to skilled volunteers willing to take a greater part in making -Billion Blessings in 1000 Days -a reality. As the needs arise, a call for volunteers will be posted in the periodic updates sent out to all members of the Blessings Experiment.
"It is said that critical mass is reached at 51 percent," Kate explained. "I envision more than a billion of us — that's one-sixth of the world population — all reaching out and blessing those around us every day. I'm neither a mathematician nor a statistician, but it seems to me that if a billion people are involved in the business of blessing the world and only a portion of those they bless also choose to become involved, then the tipping point will be reached. One candle reaching out to light another until we've set the entire planet ablaze with love. That's my dream."
